The Opportunity:
The Associate Director, Development is responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in designing and managing the current College's applications architecture and its future evolutions. This position is responsible for planning, managing, and directing the application development and integration environment to effectively and efficiently support the operations and management of the College.

Your exceptional interpersonal skills will be applied to working collaboratively with your team to achieve successful outcomes for a multitude of stakeholders.

A highly motivated subject matter expert, you have extensive experience in several complex information systems environments, with a strong focus on multi-tiered, real-time integration (SOA, J2EE, ESB). You are a strong leader with the ability to influence and provide direction of the enterprise architectures - you strive on challenges and are a Change Agent at heart.

The Responsibilities:

  • Develop plans, policies and procedures for the College's information technology systems.
  • Design and build integrations solutions connecting packaged or custom applications (build-out).
  • Design and build enterprise applications that need to integrate with other applications (build-in).
  • Oversee the development team in project management including the planning, development, evaluation and implementation of information technology systems.
  • Responsible for the management of human resources and set management of performance objectives for the team.

The Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or engineering. Additional training and/or certification in Business Management and supervisory skills an asset.
  • Eight (8) years of recent senior level experience in a systems development environment, including 3 years' experience managing multiple staff in a complex (preferably unionized) environment.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Extensive experience in enterprise information systems and data architecture planning and design.
  • Expert level experience in software development in modern enterprise application platform and frameworks (e.g., J2EE, JMS, Spring/Struts, Hibernate, G&G/RoR, as well as WebServices, SOAP/REST/XML, and Application Asynchronous Messaging Architecture - ESB).
  • Extensive knowledge and experience with Oracle database systems integration, using OracleAQ.
  • Experience with the SunGard Banner ERP or other integrated information (i.e. Oracle, PeopleSoft etc.) system is preferred.
  • Practical knowledge of systems development methodology (Agile or other), policies, procedures.
  • Strong belief in, and practical knowledge of project management principles, methods and practices, including developing plans and schedules, estimating resource requirements, defining milestones and deliverables, monitoring activities and reporting on accomplishments.
