A recent change in the supply and demand for nuclear isotopes for the medical industry has led to the company receiving federal grants in excess of $11M to help scale production and delivery capabilities to meet this very important industry need. They are in a position where the demand for product is high, the sales funnel is full and orders are 10x over last year, this is creating a combination of excitement and urgency to build an new kind of organization.
Position
The impact for ACSI is the need to add a seasoned executive who understands how to execute on this rapid acceleration in the company's growth and create the infrastructure to needed deliver. Specifically, there is a need to ensure consistency and efficiency required to launch into the commercialization stage, and to facilitate higher volume manufacturing, and the delivery of product on time and budget to their customers. While this is a great problem to have, this explosive growth has a huge impact on the internal organization. Different and new skills are needed to add to the existing exceptional team.
We are seeking a COO who will be responsible first and foremost for building the kind of organization which will ensure delivery of product for existing orders, as well as providing the leadership and strategic input to the CEO required to grow the company into a commercially successful and profitable venture.
Reporting directly to the CEO, the COO will have direct responsibility for execution of the strategy will be the point person in the executive chain of command. Reporting into this role will be Research & Development, Engineering, and Finance & Operations.
This role requires a seasoned professional with P/L responsibility for an organization manufacturing large complex electro-mechanical products. She/he will be the quintessential leader and communicator who is respectful, collaborative, and demanding with the ability to set a high bar for excellence. The COO will inspire excellence from the team and create the enthusiasm and desire to build the kind of process required for a commercial profitable venture.

- Ensure the company has infrastructure, capital equipment, human resources and budget required to execute on the corporate strategy
- Ensure on time and budget delivery on existing product orders
- Build a commercially focused corporate culture founded on good business acumen, teamwork, efficiency, accountability, constant improvement and building long term corporate value.
Requirements &Responsibilities
The Chief Operating Officer's role will have short and midterm objectives focused on internal alignment, restructuring, process improvement and increasing productivity.
- Dynamic, decisive, and even keeled leadership style with the ability to execute on tough decisions
- P/L responsibility with bottom line focus in this midsized manufacturing company which builds large complex electro mechanical precision products
- Execution and operational orientation with the ability to rise to the strategic level
- Exceptional strength in high growth situations where there is a need to rationalize resources while simultaneously attracting and retaining top talent
- Advanced education in both business and engineering with a preference for Engineering Degree and an MBA
- Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma and Kaizen experience is an asset
- Extensive experience in assessing existing talent, and building teams that balance communication and execution
- Knows when to strategize; when to manage; when to escalate and when to execute
- 15 - 20 years experience in leadership roles in complex manufacturing industries
