Overview:

Our client is a leading provider of advanced positioning technology and mobile solutions that maximize productivity and enhance profitability. Their products are used in over 100 countries around the world. The company has employees in more than 18 countries, coupled with a highly capable network of dealers and distribution partners that serve and support customers worldwide.

The Vancouver and Oregon offices contain the talent and expertise in their forestry management solutions and are dominant suppliers of spatially enabled information systems to this global vertical market.  Their enterprise software solutions offer exceptional value for customers managing the land base and forestry harvesting operations as well as the wood itself, up to the point of conservation.

We require a General Manager to fully integrate and expand this emerging solution into the larger corporate portfolio, and to liaise effectively with the other vertical markets and technology platforms throughout the company. This is an opportunity to work in an entrepreneurial environment within the framework and support of a larger corporate structure.

 

Qualifications:

With full P&L responsibility, the General Manager - Forestry develops and executes strategies to deliver growth, profitability and market share objectives. The General Manager is responsible for market strategy, business and partnership development, solution definition and delivery, channel-to-market development and overall positioning of Trimble into the industry.  The General Manager will manage sales, marketing, applications development and solutions, delivery staff and will indirectly manage other engineering, operations and business support functions for the business. Regardless of direct or indirect reporting relationships, the General Manager is responsible for delivering financial and market share results.

  • Extensive business experience with significant experience in building and leading large, matrixed, market-driven organizations.
  • P&L responsibility in a software technology company; understanding of a variety of software business models is important.
  • International selling or channel development experience and understanding of solution differentiation based on geographic or cultural needs.
  • Strong influencing and collaboration skills, with the ability to break down barriers to achieve the required solution for both the customer and internal stakeholders.
  • Highly effective communicator, able to influence without direct control.

 

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree and an MBA
  • Full P&L responsibility in entrepreneurial, technology-focused company.
  • Global experience in direct selling, product marketing or channel development.
  • Proven leadership skills in a variety of economic and market environments.
  • Success in a sales or marketing position.
  • Domain experience in forestry and/or the natural resource sector.
