Head of Sales - Vancouver BE 1206 *FILLED*
Our client is a well established innovator of embedded engineered products and solutions that are sold around the world. The company is best known for its design and manufacture of platforms that are used in harsh environments like mining, rail, aerospace and industrial automation. The company is very well run with leading systems and processes in place and core values that include an open communication style and empowerment of all staff.
This is a new position and will report to the President and CEO. The VP Sales will have complete responsibility for all sales and business development operations, market competitiveness evaluation, distribution and channel strategy. He/she will manage an existing team of sales;, technical sales and sales support people and be expected to recruit; train, manage and motivate new hires as the company continues to grow.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive deal flow, account strategies, and guide/ mentor sales team to maximize effectiveness and results
- Manage overall sales process, set appropriate metrics for sales funnel management
- Drive the development of national and international sales strategies
- Maintain key customer relationships and develop and implement strategies for expanding the company’s customer base
- Oversee the development of the sales organization, appropriate for the company’s maturity/size
- Establish compensation, training, and sales incentive programs
- Work closely with Director of Marketing to develop, establish, and direct channel and distribution strategies and programs and lead generation programs.
- Develop pricing policies, including volume discounts and terms and conditions, for high-profile customers and channel partners
- Be a role model for the company culture.
Qualifications and Attributes
- At least 10 years sales experience in comparable industries, with 5 years in a senior sales management position
- Ability to plan and manage at both the strategic and operational levels
- Established contacts and relationships with potential customers and channel partners
- Outstanding consultative selling abilities and excellent interpersonal skills with executive level customers and partners
- Proven evangelical sales track record in a new product/new market environment
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and staff to create a results driven, team oriented environment
- Experience with a specific sales methodology, sales funnel management
- Experience in choosing, deploying and using marketing and sales SW applications like Salesforce.com
- Capacity to assume more significant executive responsibilities over time
Compensation
Cash compensation will be market based with a mix of base and performance pay. Additionally, the ideal candidate will be interested in the equity opportunity that comes with this position.
Location
The company is headquartered in Greater Vancouver and although the company sells around the world, all employees are based at head office. The VP Sales will also be expected to be based out of head office.
