Senior Network Architect - Vancouver (AD-SNA) ***FILLED***
Our client is B2B Internet Communications company that is on the verge of a growth cycle. They provide North American customers a wide range of IP-based data communications services and also expanded their product line to deliver leading-edge cloud services including hosting cloud servers, hosted private clouds, managed servers and hosted MS-exchange.
This is a high profile, critical role based in their Vancouver office involving a fast-paced but casual environment. The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, results-driven individual who excels in challenging work and diverse responsibilities.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, design, test, document and implement network based IP services
- Evaluate, standardize and test IP network topologies and architectures
- Create scope documents for our software engineers to automate the delivery, monitoring, and billing of these IP services
- Provide technical leadership for project deliverables for network technologies
- Work with vendors to select and test hardware/software for use in the core network and at customer sites
- Design and implement complex customer Internet services
- Establish and document operational support processes and procedures
- Train support teams on new services
- Collaborate with key stakeholders from various business units to determine criteria and solutions
- Tier 4 technical support for the Network Operations team
Skills/Experience Required
- Practical hands-on networking (configuring edge and core Cisco and Juniper routers and switches) and systems administration experience
- Good communication, presentation, documentation and interpersonal skills – Must have proficiency with Microsoft Visio
- Strong Project Administration/Co-ordination skills
- Must have knowledge of the following protocols and technologies; BGP, OSPF, RIP, IPSec, MPLS, VPDN (PPPoE/PPPoL2TP), broadband (DOCIS 2/3, ADSL, EFM, fibre).
- Must have a professional level Cisco Certification, preferably CCDP, CCIP or CCNP.
- Must have at least Associate level Juniper certification, with experience configuring and supporting JUNOS and Netscreen equipment.
- 5+ years experience designing and supporting large IP backbone networks
- Knowledge of UNIX an asset
- Knowledge of PERL and other scripting languages
- Knowledge of C# or Java an asset
- ISP and/or 24x7 operations experience a definite asset
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines
