BC Social Venture Partners – Cutting Edge Philanthropy
As a venture philanthropy organization, BC SVP applies sound investment principles to its granting approach. Not content with simply awarding grants, the Partners actively guide, nurture and advise each Grantee to assist in their capacity-building efforts.
BC SVP takes an innovative approach to philanthropy, leveraging dollars, networks, and professional skills to support the Grantees. This "time plus money" approach helps the Grantees increase their capacity to deliver positive social impact. While BC SVP has a broad interest in all groups tackling social problems in new and creative ways, the current focus is in three main areas of need: Helping Women at Risk, Brighter Futures for Children and Youth and Social Enterprise.
BC SVP offers many ways for Partners - from the newest giver to the most seasoned philanthropist—to invest, engage, learn and grow. The spectrum of activities, which leverage the annual financial contributions, maximizes Partners’ personal experiences and their community impact.
Partners roll up their sleeves with a network of likeminded business professionals and contribute in a real and practical way to causes of concern to the community. Hard earned years of entrepreneurial and business experience are applied where it is needed and valued most – helping to strengthen nonprofit capacity. It’s an immensely satisfying volunteer effort.
Business leaders like Norm Francis, Ken Spencer and David Sutcliffe have joined in this pioneering philanthropic movement. We invite you to learn more about Partnership by visiting www.bctsvp.com. You can also call BC SVP staff at 604.602.5221.
