Lead Project Engineer, Carbon Engineering

This is a senior role for an Engineer who understands and has led large industrial, plant design and construction projects. Experience working for an EPC firm in chemical, petrochemical process, and or water treatment plant design and construction would be ideal.
Reports to the Director of Engineering.
Technical lead interfacing with the Project Lead, Business Development, Engineering, and Materials Management teams for plant projects.
Lead engineer on cross-functional capital projects.
Responsible for the successful engineering implementation of projects to build plants to cost, schedule, and performance requirements. Plant budgets will be more than $100M, with multiple external suppliers in multiple geographies.
Technical lead on large capital projects starting from FEED and progressing through detailed engineering, construction and plant start-up.
Liaise with the Engineering team and EPC management to establish the technical definition, project budget, schedule, and plant performance.
Technical expert during business development, stakeholder meetings, site selection, permitting and vendor negotiations.
Create process flow diagrams that include mass and energy balance.
Create piping and instrumentation diagrams.
Contribute to HAZOP studies and reports.
Specification, sizing, and purchasing of equipment, pumps, valves, lines and other plant components.
Preparation and issue of RFQs.
Review vendor’s documents, drawings, datasheets, specification and calculations.
Interact with plant process engineers to identify development activities that inform the design.
Oversee the construction, start up, and commissioning of a new plants.
Estimate budgets for construction, capital, and operating expense.
Chemical or Mechanical Engineering (MS Preferred)
Minimum 15 years or relevant plant design and technical project leadership.
Demonstrated experience in a lead technical role for large capital projects involving multiple stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
Ability to distill complex problems into simple solutions.
A self-starter with the ability to work independently towards multiple deadlines with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.
Experience and comfort leading the design and deployment of $100M process plants
Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset) and tackling challenging problems.
