Senior Mechanical Engineer ***Completed***

We are searching for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to help save the world. Our Client has vision is to lead the world in the large-scale removal of carbon dioxide from the air and advance our shift to a sustainable carbon-neutral society. Position Scope

This position will lead the selection and design of equipment for future plants. You will provide guidance for the design, configuration, and scale-up of equipment, establish design standards, and manage vendor negotiations.

  • Reports to Mechanical Team Lead.

  • Work with the Operations team to share information which will guide equipment selection and design for plants.

Responsibilities

  • Lead studies to identify suitable equipment to meet process conditions then select equipment based on study results.

  • Perform and check equipment sizing and process calculations.

  • Review PIDs and make recommendations on equipment configuration.

  • Interpret and use pilot plant data to scale-up equipment or to improve equipment (identify better options).

  • Present technical information, concepts, or study results to multiple Stakeholders.

  • Assign tasks to junior engineers and technicians.

  • Support and advise on generation of plant design documents.

  • Make recommendations on establishing engineering design standards.

  • Oversee vendor testing.

  • Oversee EPC work during detailed engineering and construction.

  • Assist Operations Team in plant start-up and commissioning.

  • Work with plant Operators to understand issues and remedy in new plant design.

  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians.

Qualifications

  • Education: BEng Mechanical. Registered as a Professional Engineer (PEng) in BC, or eligibility for registration is required.

  • Experience: minimum 8+ years’ experience in chemical plants/process, water treatment, biofuels, pulp and paper, mineral processing, oil and gas facilities, or similar.

  • Previous employment at an EPC or extensive experience working with EPC.

  • Prior knowledge of FEED or FEL of large commercial process plants.

  • Demonstrated experience with process scale-up.

  • Experience working with vendors to design and deliver customized equipment.

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills.

  • A self-starter with the ability to work independently towards multiple deadlines with minimum supervision in a fast-paced environment.

  • Thrive on doing things that have not been done before (explorer mindset) and tackling challenging problems.
