Our Client is a rapidly growing Life Sciences & HealthTech company based in Vancouver. We seek a highly-skilled and motivated Director of Enterprise Applications to join the team. As the Director of IS, you will play a crucial role in leading the development, implementation, and management of our G&A enterprise software applications. With our company poised for rapid growth, you will have the exciting opportunity to build and lead a team, ensuring the scalability and efficiency of our technology infrastructure as we expand from 100 to over 300 employees within the next three years. The ideal candidate will be a hands-on professional with a solid technical background and exceptional leadership skills.

Responsibilities:

1. Strategy and Planning:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy for the company's enterprise applications, aligning it with the overall business objectives and growth plans.

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify and prioritize application needs, ensuring seamless integration and data flow across systems.

  • Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies, evaluating their potential application to enhance our business operations.

2. Team Leadership and Development:

  • Build and manage a high-performing team of application developers, administrators, and support staff.

  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and technical expertise to the team members, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.

  • Define clear roles and responsibilities, set performance expectations, conduct regular performance evaluations, and promote professional growth opportunities.

3. Application Development and Management:

  • Oversee enterprise applications' design, development, testing, implementation, and maintenance, including ERP, Financial Systems, document management systems, and other critical software solutions.

  • Ensure the applications' scalability, security, and reliability, considering future growth and increasing user requirements.

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather functional requirements and translate them into technical specifications and project plans.

  • Manage application vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure effective utilization of external resources.

4. System Integration and Data Management:

  • Lead efforts to integrate various applications, databases, and systems, enabling seamless data flow and efficient business processes.

  • Ensure data integrity, security, and compliance with internal processes and standards to support compliance with relevant regulations (e.g. GxP, SOX, privacy).

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement data governance policies, standards, and procedures.

5. Support and Training:

  • Establish and maintain robust support processes, promptly resolving application issues and user requests.

  • Develop and deliver training programs to enhance end-user proficiency and ensure maximum utilization of enterprise applications.

  • Foster a customer-centric culture within the IT team, emphasizing responsiveness, empathy, and service excellence.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.

  • Proven experience (8+ years) in enterprise application development, implementation, and management, preferably within a publicly traded company.

  • Strong technical background with hands-on experience in software development, database management, and system integration.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to build, motivate, and manage high-performing teams.

  • Excellent project management skills, with a track record of delivering complex projects on time and within budget.

  • In-depth knowledge of enterprise application architectures, cloud-based solutions, and emerging technologies.

  • Familiarity with regulatory requirements for data security and privacy for a listed company.

  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
