Director Manufacturing and Operations - Electronics (Vancouver, BC)

The Opportunity
A stable, growing electronics manufacturer is hiring a Director of Manufacturing, Operations, and Engineering to turn a heavy, fast‑moving order book into consistent, on‑time delivery. This leader owns production and engineering end‑to‑end, building the scheduling, planning, and accountability discipline needed to keep pace with demand. It is a high-mix, small-order, high-rate environment and ideal for a highly caffeinated, fast-paced leader.

‍About the Company
The organization designs and manufactures mission‑critical components, holds ISO 9001 and AS9100 certification, and ships every unit individually tested. It is founder‑owned and has a senior engineering team with deep product knowledge. Strong technical foundations are in place; this role will close the operational maturity gap.

‍ Key Responsibilities‍ ‍

  • Own and drive the full production schedule across all active orders.

  • Build repeatable production processes and hold teams accountable to delivery dates.

  • Partner with supply chain on lead times, constraints, and schedule conflicts.

  • Maintain engineering process discipline (ECOs, BOMs, compliance).

  • Resolve cross‑functional technical issues and sign off on certification readiness.

  • Translate growth targets into operational plans with clear metrics.

  • Identify bottlenecks and risks early; build contingencies.

  • Mentor engineering and production leads to strengthen capability and reduce single‑point dependencies.

‍ Qualifications and Experience ‍

  • 10+ years in manufacturing and operations, including 5+ years with direct accountability for production and delivery.

  • Strong hardware or product engineering depth; able to evaluate technical claims directly.

  • Experience in a busy, high-mix, low‑volume, high‑quality manufacturing environment.

  • Operational leadership in scheduling, resource allocation, and budget management.

  • Credibility with senior technical teams earned through competence.

  • Working knowledge of ISO 9001/AS9100, ECOs, BOMs, and audit readiness.

‍Preferred: Hardware, electronics, RF, microwave, or satellite communications experience; hands‑on leadership in similarly scaled environments.

This is a critical leadership role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, technical environment and is looking to drive innovation, efficiency, and team success. Base comp will be in the $145k-$180k range for the right-fit candidate.
