Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley, BC  ·  Full-Time  ·  Onsite

Most geotechnical roles ask you to deliver good work and stay in your lane. This one asks for something more.

We are conducting a search on behalf of one of Western Canada's most established engineering and testing firms. They have been operating in BC for nearly four decades, have a dozen branch locations across the province, and have built a tier-one materials testing operation. They are now building on that foundation: a fully integrated engineering firm that can serve clients from first investigation through construction completion, all under one roof. The geotechnical division is the growth engine of that story. This hire is a meaningful part of it.

The Role

This is a senior position split between technical project delivery and client development. Roughly 75% of your time is the bread and butter of geotechnical practice: investigations, reports, construction-phase services, and mentoring the junior engineers around you. The remaining 25% is focused on the business side, managing existing client relationships, building new ones, and helping the division grow its presence across the Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley.

What You’ll Work On

The technical scope is broad, and the work is not routine. This team has access to cutting-edge testing capabilities that few geotechnical firms in the region can match, and the projects reflect that. Typical project types include:

  • Shoring design and excavation support for mid-rise and high-rise construction

  • Deep foundation design, pile driving analysis (PDA), and static load testing

  • Slope stability, retaining wall design, and erosion mitigation

  • Subdivisions, land development, and municipal infrastructure

  • Site investigations, soil characterization, and foundation recommendations

What We’re Looking For

  • P.Eng. designation with EGBC, required

  • 8 to 15 or more years of geotechnical engineering experience, with Lower Mainland or BC exposure preferred

  • Solid technical foundation in soil mechanics, foundation engineering, shoring design, and construction-phase services

  • Proven ability to manage clients, projects, and deadlines independently

  • Experience mentoring junior engineers or EITs

  • An existing professional network in the Lower Mainland is a real advantage

  • Valid BC driver’s licence and comfort with regular site travel

The Bigger Picture

This firm has infrastructure that most geotechnical practices spend years trying to assemble: an established brand, province-wide reach, long-standing client relationships across multiple sectors, and a materials testing platform that is already paid for. Engineering services sit on top of all of that.

What the division needs now is scale. The right hire will help grow the client base, develop the team around that work, and convert the firm’s integrated capabilities into a market position that is difficult for competitors to replicate.
